Rewrite your homepage headline

Nine of your last twelve reviews name the same strength in your customers’ own words, and your homepage answers with the same line about quality and fair prices that your three closest competitors lead with. The one advantage buyers already believe is the one thing a stranger never reads.

What we’re seeing

  • Nine of your last twelve reviews name the same strength, in your customers’ own words.

    Your public reviews

  • Your homepage and your three closest competitors’ homepages open with interchangeable claims.

The four sites, read side by side

How to do it

  1. Read your twelve most recent reviews and copy out every sentence that says why the customer chose you. Nine will overlap. Keep the wording they used.

  2. Draft one headline that says that thing plainly, in a dozen words or fewer. No “quality”, no “fair prices” — those are the lines the other three lead with.

  3. Put it at the top of the homepage, above everything else, with one line under it saying who the work is for.

  4. Read the four homepages side by side once it is up. If yours could still be any of the four, the line is not done.

What you should see

A stranger who reads only the first line of your homepage can now say what makes you different. You can test this on anyone in a minute.
